The beginning of a long journey

So after five and a half years in New York my girlfriend, Kate, and I are taking a break from the big city. Removing ourselves from iPads, Armani and Magnolia's for the hustle and bustle of one of the most diverse areas of the world, Africa. More specifically Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Cameroon for a total of 5 months.

With a couple pairs of pants, bottled water and a bed net we've decided on a simpler life. It should be quite an amazing experience to explore a continent that most don't fully understand and many seem to fear.

Our reasoning is simple. To get a different perspective on life, to see how other cultures thrive and to explore a landscape that I've been told is simply breathtaking. Also, we have the opportunity to contribute to the communities we will be living in that I hope is truly beneficial, both to them and to us.

With that, here is a link to our itinerary. Simply click the links on the left hand side.

Additionally, here are two of the organizations we'll be working at. Please check them out:

For now I say goodbye and I'll see you all soon. Please check back often. I'll be blogging as much as possible and providing plenty of pictures.
